They are simply herbs and vegetables that are harvested 7–21 days after germination, once the plant’s first true leaves have emerged. Seeds are sown thickly on trays, germinated in darkness and weighted, then cut between the sprouting and baby green stage. The plants are much more nutrient dense at this point in their development than they are full grown. They are beautiful, delicious and versatile. Enjoy them on their own or in salads, sandwiches, soups, smoothies, tacos . . . or just about anything!
The micro-farm at A Girl Can Green is a climate controlled indoor grow room. All produce is grown in organic mediums, typically Coco Coir and potting soil, or hydroponically using well water directly from the Trinity Aquifer. The plants are only fertilized with vermicompost from industrious on-site Red Wiggler worms.
I sprout and sow Sunflowers and Wheatgrass every week. I love to grow mixes like Basic Salad, Superfood, Sulforaphane, Mellow, Eastern Sun and Broccoli Trio. The mixes are comprised of combinations of multiple varieties of Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Mustard, Kale, Kohlrabi, Arugula, Cress, Collard, Turnip, Tendergreen and Radish; all of which may also be cultivated independently. Sometimes Peas, Beets, Swiss Chard, Cilantro, Parsley, Dill and Cantaloupe are available. I am open to requests or special orders and am always excited to try out something new!
Connect with me if would like to be included in a no obligation weekly availability text message. I make deliveries around the Kerrville area every Friday afternoon.
